Happy Thanksgiving

Today is the day that we who live in the United States celebrate what we call thanksgiving. I am excited about spending time with some family and friends but it is historically one of the most self centered days of the year for most of us. We consume enough food at one table to feed a village, no wait we throw away enough food to feed a village. We use resources to decorated, buy trivial things to satisfy our selves. 

We call ourselves recreating the first day of celebration that our forefathers shared with the Native Americans. But we prepare a feast and share mostly with only our families. I discovered something very disturbing about life on our planet. We feast with each other then steal from our fellowman his right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Sorry I forgot that's just for US!

We have been told that the United States of America has six percent (6%) of the worlds population and ninety two percent (92%) of the worlds wealth. Not being a rocket scientist or even a semi smart guy I did the math. Ninety four percent (94%) of the worlds population lives on eight percent (8%) of the worlds wealth.

What we proclaim as thankfulness is nothing more than greed. When a minimum wage worker in the U.S. ranks as wealthy by a vast majority of the worlds standard, I'm thinking something is wrong. Here is what I see as wrong. We have ceased to care for and love our fellow man, we have elected politicians to ease our conscience and buffer our lives from the reality of personal responsibility.

We have bitched and moaned ourselves into a corner and now there is no one out there to help or even would help if they could. We have paraded around the world as the superpower and now we seem to neither be super or powerful. We are on the fast track from the head to the tail, from the lender to the borrower, from the steward to the one being managed.

I am thankful that God is still God and we just guests in His universe, but He will someday say that's enough raping and pillaging of my planet and my crowning creation called man. This life will close it's doors and we will step into a new life, that life will be an eternal one with God or an eternal life without Him.

I am truly thankful that I know where and with whom I will spend eternity. It is determined in part by how we serve our fellow man. Please read Mathew chapter 25 verses 31 through 46. It's about receiving HIM.

Today is the day!!!

Well folks after only two short years of doing whatever it is that politicians do, today it will be over, well at least for a little while. It really doesn't matter to me who is the next president of the United States or shall we say the divided states.

This problem of divisiveness can be traced right back to what we have come to call the church. They are the promoters of the greatest bit of division on the planet. Don't believe me get out the phone book and look in the yellow pages under churches. Drive down the steepled streets of your city. We have played all that off as "preference of worship style" and "culture" but the fact is it is really division in the body of Christ.

In the small rural area where I live we have a weekly newspaper. In that newspaper we have a "church section" where all the happenings of the different meetings are listed for your buffet experience of dining on the body of Christ. One of the pages in the "Times News" is solely dedicated to listing all churches who want to be listed. At my last count there were over 125 listed to serve a county of about 22,000 people. Yet over half the 22,000 don't regularly attend any of their meetings. You do the math.

I attended a large gathering of folks last week to promote a local jail/prison ministry. As the chaplain bragged of having about 25 different "churches" or "groups" provide Bible studies each week at his facility, I leaned over to my wife and compelled by the Holy Spirit I said to her, "how confused those inmates must be".

For nearly two years we have been hearing different stories from, in the beginning of this race, about 50 candidates. Now we are being told there are only two left standing for our choice. Oh how confused we must be!!!

The money squandered on campaigns from all these candidates is obscene. They have tried to buy what should have been given freely. By the way I'm talking about the churches as well as politicians. Although I'm not sure there is even much difference in the two. The hungry could have been fed instead of feeding ego. Orphans could have been cared for instead of caring for the denomination/party. Widows could have been blessed instead of making widows both spiritually and physically with our senseless fighting. The naked could have been clothed instead of clothing ourselves with our own rightness.

I am so proud to have a King...I can't be worried about or even need a president. My King is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords and that my friend trumps a president every time. Just remember when it all winds up, and it eventually will, and we stand before my King, He's not gonna be concerned with your doctrine, your church or political affiliation but simply have you received the gift of God Himself that is eternal life. Decision 08...to day is the day.

Blog Action Day, subject, POVERTY

This is my first offering on Blog Action Day but I am not a stranger to the subject or the reality of poverty. I am blessed to be a middle class American from the heart of the U.S. Most of us only talk about poverty in terms of welfare or other governmental helps. We intervene in poverty by squandered tax dollars on programs that have proven, shall we say, less than successful. Government intervention to eradicate poverty has not and will not work. Poverty can only be eliminated one person at a time by a single individual who cares and loves enough to be equal to and not greater than the impoverished.

Maintaining order in society is the function of government but the maintenance of mankind is left to each individual. The issue is basically sacrifice. Those who have sacrificing in order for those who have not to be lifted from the terrible pit of poverty by a hand that seeks not to be drawn into the pit but filling the pit with such love and compassion both stand on level ground.

I know this is too simple for most to comprehend but if one by one we will step past being simply willing and will DO IT we can see a difference. I know this approach works, I have personally tested it and it has NEVER failed.

Join in, stand up and sacrificially give your life for someone else. Oh yeah equal is a hard place for most of us to stand, that's why a vast majority who will read this will do just that...read it and do nothing.
