S.O.S.?

Life and Death?

I was just thinking today and have a simple quote for ya. I think I thought of it, if you’ve said it or thought it, sorry to infringe on your stuff. From me to anybody who reads this. Well a little background before the quote. I just recently went to my home state of Arkansas for a funeral of an uncle who was always very good to me. During the visit the subject of life and death and all their trapping came up as they usually do at times like that.

Here’s what I said on the subject of life and death. “They reason a lot of folks are so miserable is they are afraid to die and worse than that they are afraid to live.”

Dying will take care of it’s self, we’ll all try for one last breath and this precious gift of life on this earth will be over. But this gift of mortal life has to be lived to the fullest while we are still given the opportunity to have an impact on those who we come in contact with. When we die we will suffer loss or gain reward based on the deeds done in these bodies. I have sat for far too many years waiting for heaven to come down and as Bob Marley so beautifully puts it…it is already here in Jah living man!!!

Live, love and be ready; ya gonna die!!!

2 in 1 Day!!!

I am saddened today beyond measure. Not for me, I live in the good ole U.S of A. and and pretty much not in need of anything. I have plenty of food, a modest home, vehicles to drive and a loving Christian family. I’m doing OK. But my friends in Africa…that’s another story.

Sure they got the basic things of life with only one little catch. Their home consists of 29 people and one dog that I now of. This doesn’t including the occasional visiting monkey or other animals.

I have the honor of distributing the funds from donors to Johnny & Kate Brooks that come from folks who support their work with orphans, widows and the destitute in Kenya East Africa.

Here is what saddens and I might add maddens me to an extent. In the month of September they did more real ministry and displayed the character of Jesus more than any “church” I know of. They are struggling…wanna know why? Glad you asked!!! It seems heavens economy is in recession. I say that because only ONE “church” supported the work in September. By the way this group of people faithfully, consistently supports the work on a monthly basis. The other donors, all eight of them, gave all they could. This group of nine donors gave, (through our U.S. mailing address), a total of $1,407.60.

That is less than MOST pastors here in the U.S. would be paid for doing their job. Let’s see….taking care of widows and orphans, feeding the starving, educating the young and most of all letting the world see a true picture of what Jesus looks like on earth today. As they on a popular American television show says…..America has voted. They results of our votes are going to pay off, you can count on it.

What Are Friends For?

Have you ever had anybody ask the question, “what are friends for”? Usually it is after they have done something for you that actually makes them look good. But maybe the Lord showed me what a true, real friend is. Let me briefly explain.

I have a friend who does very little “stuff” for me but loves me unconditionally and vice versa. He was tell me about another person he knows that is having a bit of difficulty and needed some help. He explained he really didn’t know the folks very well but deep down inside he felt he needed to do something to alleviate his new friends hurt. By the way the cost of friendship is not always dollars and cents. Friendship is made up of far more valuable things like caring, listening, visiting and of course unconditional love that can only be found through a relationship with The Lord Jesus Christ. And sometimes it does boil down to money.

My friend called me for advice as how to proceed and together we decided how to best express our love for my friends new friend. My point on friendship is this: you may not be able to be what another person needs at a certain time or under specific circumstances but true, real friends have shown themselves friendly to others that can be called on to fill in the gap and make the cycle of friendship expand. By the way it cost my friend something to be a friend, it cost me something to be my friends friend and it will, at some point cost our new friend something to be our friend. I read something recently that said “I may not have it all together but together we have it all.

Geographically the three of us are miles apart but we are together because of this bond of friendship. The bond of true friendship is built on just one thing, or shall I say just one God who took of the form of man in the person of The Lord Jesus Christ who was conceived of God, crucified and rose from the dead to pay the price of His precious blood to buy back the relationship mankind forfeited through disobedience. Now here is the good news He lives to give us life, He is now taking on the form of man once again and is looking for a few good men and women who are willing to be a friend the sticks closer than a brother to his fellow human beings whatever the cost.

You can have brother and sister biologically and even spiritually that are not your friends but oh baby when the combination of friendship and relationship happens…you are without question willing to lay down your life for that person. Thanks for another lesson in life, you are da man!!!
